no period??

So yesturday I took a pregnancy test. I hadn't missed my period yet but I wanted to see anyways since me and my boyfriend have been having unprotected sex for almost a month. The test was negative but my period was supposed to start today and didn't. The pregnancy test was a cheap dollar store one. Idk what's going on can someone help me?
