my iud

I had the iud put in about a month ago and I didn't realise I should wait to have sex. Me and my partner have really quite rough sex now I'm worried I could have put it out of place I've got an appointment to check it anyway but I also can't reach the little strings to check it's there?? And I didn't realise it may not be effective right afterward should I tell me doctor and take tests ??!!
