2 dpo and bleeding?

I'm 2 dpo and I either just started my period or am having really heavy spotting! Could the ovulation kits have missed my ovulation day and recorded it late? I've taken a clear blue kit every day for the past 30 days (my cycles are irregular) and only had the smiley on Friday. I'm totally bummed because I thought that maybe this was the month after trying for so long.
