sugar pill week

I've been in a relationship for almost a year but I've recently started taking birth control. Before the pill we've always used condoms however now we don't (we've been tested and we both clean so transmission of sti isn't a worry) since I've started the pill. I was wondering if during the placebo pill week do we need to use other contraception methods ie condoms or is the pill sufficient?
