vaginal discharge

So lately I've been have problems with discharge. It has an awfully foul smell and I just don't know what to do about it anymore. I try to drink as much water as possible but that doesn't work for to long in the case of an std ... I want to go to the clinic. I'm nervous about getting tested however I think it's best. Should I go just to check things out? I'm just so embarrassed about the smell
