natural or epidural??

I'm so unsure what I want, and my baby is coming any day.. part of me really wants to try to go natural because that part of me honestly believes I can take the pain and handle it. But I'm afraid of declining the epidural, and then wanting one but for it to be too late. How have some of you ladies handled the pain of a natural birth?

With my first I had to be induced and the contractions come on hard and fast so I got an epidural. My second I was only in labor for 45 mins and the anesthesiologist didn't get to me in time so it was all natural  and he was a big boy lol. The biggest difference was with my second recovery was so much faster. I hope to not get an epidural this time but I won't make that decision until I'm in labor

I was induced. Apparently the contractions for induction are like 50 million times worse than regular contractions. I couldn't even dilate. I had to get an epidural or it would have caused me to get a c section.

If you aren't dilating because your body is very sensitive to pain, and you've exhausted other ways, then I'd say go for the epidural.

Don't stress mama you have to be really far along in labor to be refused an epidural and you're going to know if you need it before then barring some weird circumstances. If you do get one consider asking for a walking epidural which allows you to still feel contractions enough to push and you maintain the use of your legs. I fully planned on going natural and my doctor thought I could do it. But I ended up being induced and medically induced contractions are insane. My point is that it really isn't something you can decide in advance and you shouldn't drive yourself crazy trying to.
