Threatened miscarriage story
What a terrifying experience! 2 nights ago I had some pretty moderate bleeding and because it was at night we couldn't call the doctor, we decided to wait for the appointment we had the next day as if it was a miscarriage, there wasn't going to be anything we could do anyway.
So yesterday our doctor was pretty concerned with the amount of bleeding I had, but the good signa were that my blood pressure was fine, no fever, and the fresh blood had stopped and it was only brown spotting at that point. He sent me for an urgent ultrasound for the next morning at 8am (this morning) and there we waited, what seemed like hours was hardly 20 minutes in the waiting room, I was in tears worrying about not seeing a heartbeat and seeing other expectant mothers happily receiving their ultrasounds sent me over the edge (not their fault, of course!)
I finally got called in (with a bursting bladder) and omg the ultrasound tech was so sweet from the very beginning! He asked all the questions he needed to in a calm and gentle manner, being sure not to scare me or freak me out, put the gel on and away we went, I was expecting nothing until I saw the sac and almost instantly after that there was my little blob! The tech said to us "Baby is in there and has a nice strong heartbeat right there", as soon as he said it I cried and he put a hand on my arm, being extremely comforting and asking if I'm okay. I cannot describe how much his actions meant to me even though the baby is alive and well in there, this man was so kind and reassured me everything was fine the whole time.
Long story short we had a threatened miscarriage and everything turned out fine, we panicked for nothing and were told that there is still a pool of blood, however after this far along with a heartbeat, the baby is most likely resilient enough to get through all of this and I should pass the remaining blood with no troubles!
This baby is such a troublemaker already, it's in the genes! 😂 We couldn't be happier, heart rate is 175 and we're even measuring 2 days ahead of our last scan! 😍
I hope this can shed some light for anyone going through something similar because I know myself that the whole time we went without seeing a doctor, I was reading anything and everything I could to get an idea of what was going to happen. Of course, keep in mind that everyone is different and if you have bleeding that you are concerned about you should call your doctor, and don't be afraid to go to the ER if you're really worried about it, but ALWAYS seek some kind of medical attention after bleeding regardless of how much there is, your doctor/midwife should know.
