My mother in law only speaks spanish and she is teaching my 4 month old as well...I would love to communicate with them as well. I know basics but it's not enough..whats the best way to learn?

I use duolingo on my android. It's free and it's easy to use. It can help you get some of the basics down and having other people around that speak the language you're learning will help a lot.

Where I live there are inexpensive and probably even free classes called Spanish for the work place. It teaches conversational Spanish as opposed to Castilian Spanish.

Spend time with them. My mom only speaks Spanish, my husband just speaks English, and I speak both. I want my kid to be bilingual.
 My husband understands more than he speaks. It takes time, but if you pay closer attention you will learn as well.
