breastfeeding gap?

Has anyone picked back up breastfeeding after a gap? How did it work out for you??

Following! We exclusively pump since she was jaundiced and lost too much weight her first week. I got lazy and couldn't find a good time to keep up with offering the breast but we're slowly trying again (probably once our twice a day) and she isn't a fan. It's also difficult for us bc I have a very forceful letdown and a significant supply so it's pretty overwhelming for her.
Anyway, pumping sucks. Especially bc my breasts don't like the electric pump so I do it all with a manual. I try to do it while she's sleeping but I still feel like I'm missing time. And she's only going to get older and stay awake more.. not to mention when she starts moving around it'll be even harder.
Any advice to get back to the breast would be awesome. Hopefully someone has a success story for us!

I stopped around week 2 and picked back up week 5 and continued until week 8.

I unfortunately stopped because baby would fall into a deep deep sleep and wasn't getting enough to eat.
