HELP! when to ask for help?

I'm new to all of this, so please be patient with me. I'm 40 and have been TTC for the last 4 months, for my first child. How long do I need to keep trying until I ask for help? Ask for Clomid? Ask for IVF?

I have always heard that if you're 35 or older to give it six months before talking to a doc. Good luck!

I'm 38. They say 6 months of over 35, but it took almost a month to get an appointment with my RE, so I say call now.

Have you talked to your regular OBGYN? I was told to wait a year but I'm 32.
