Mucus plug question - no pictures

This isn't my first pregnancy but I either didn't lose mine the first time or didn't notice. I'm currently 37 + 6. Last night I went pee and when I looked down to wipe there was a long (at least 6 inches) of really thick yellow/clear mucus. I wiped it up and it was a huge glob. Took 3 more times of wiping to get the rest that was coming out. Had contractions all night that stopped this morning, and when I went to the bathroom this morning there was a quarter sized glob of more of the mucus. It's SUPER sticky but very mucusy. I tried to get it off the tissue and couldn't. Is this the mucus plug, or just discharge? Haven't had more since this morning.
