Coming from a mom of 2 boys i hear the term boys will be boys all the time and its generally used as an excuse for poor behaviour and i hate it. Its not fair on either side of the spectrum. Its not ok to excuse poor behaviour in boys and its not ok to exclude girls for being girls

100% agree. I hate the "boys will be boys" bullshit.

That's not true at all. When little girls are being dramatic and throwing tantrums people say things like oh that's just how girls are. Dramatic just like mom etc etc. girls have a girls will be girls behaviors as well. People just word it differently.

Yep it's absolutely true. "Act like a lady, girls are made of sugar and spice," the list goes on and on. But boys are typically allowed to get dirty, wrestle, raise their voices, and not have to "ask nicely" for things they need.

If ur being bad that's it boy or girl. My mom never put an excuse on it. There were times where she would say "pretty girls do this__" in the same respect when my brother was being corrected she'd say "boys don't do ___"  I've never felt limited growing up just because I was a female. Maybe limited because I just didn't understand but never gender related limitations.

Yes my brother got away with more but he was the baby, not just because he's a boy. I feel like that's kinda grasping at straws to say women are oppressed from a young age. FALSE! We use these terms as parents to guide our kids in the direction of being "model citizens".

"Girls will be girls" and "boys will be boys" is a TERRIBLE excuse for a parent to say. Misbehavior should never be tolerated. Stop making excuses and correct your child. Period.
