sweep my membranes!?

Had my appointment today with my Dr., 38 weeks tomorrow. He discussed possibly sweeping my membranes next week if I'm not in labor yet. Last week I was 1.5cm dilated and 90% effaced no cervical check this week, didn't think it was necessary. What does a membrane sweep entail!?

Sweeping is when they use their fingers to separate the sac from your uterus lining...

When they stretched my cervix, all she did was basically shove her fingers in there and literally stretch it ....   not sure if there is a difference between a stretch and a sweep?? It was uncomfortable for about 5 minutes and I had cramps afterwards but that's about all that has come of it , maybe u will have better luck lol

Never had one but i read the doctor will separate your waters from ur cervix. I may be wrong
