Birth story

Madi
My husband was arriving home from a military school after six weeks away. He arrived home an hour before my water broke at 38 weeks 6 days(perfect timing).
We headed to the hospital and my water did actually break and they checked me and I was only half a centimeter dilated. They put cervidel and me to soften my cervix. The contractions kept getting stronger and stronger and because of my scoliosis and cerebral palsy they actually gave me an epidural at half a centimeter dilated. (I definitely understand now what women say about not being able to explain what a contraction feels like.... the pain is like nothing else😩) because of the scoliosis the epidural only worked on the right side, which kind of helped things but the fact that the cerebral palsy is on the left side it didn't make much of a difference. The contractions still were getting worse and after an hour of monitoring they ended up redoing the epidural in a different spot. The second time around for the epidural he hit the right spot and it was not him and felt great. They ended up taking out the cervidel after the first epidural which I was screaming in pain while they took it out. I had been in the hospital for about 3 hours at this point. The epidural medication finally was wearing off and my contractions kept getting worse and worse and they ended up giving me a huge dose of the medication which numbed me from head to toe. They waited until the next morning to put Pitocin and me when I finally reached 3 cm and then within an hour after that I had reached 7 cm.😀 The Pitocin eventually stopped working and after 24 hours of being in the hospital the baby started getting less and less oxygen because every time they flipped me to my left side which is where I have the cerebral palsy I was having contraction after contraction and the baby was never able to fully rest between them. So they started me on some oxygen and then my blood pressure started getting really low so they had to put me on some medication for that. They eventually had to put in some sort of fetal monitor internally to monitor the baby for the rest of the time in the hospital. I finally got to 9 cm on my own but because of the cerebral palsy my doctor realize that I was not going to be able to fully get dilated to 10 cm because of my pelvis and cp. so they scheduled a C-section within the next hour. So within an hour I was in the operation room, I had more medication to Nummi completely but during the whole operation I was still feeling contractions but it did not change the operation... I was numb everywhere else. The anesthesiologist was absolutely shocked that I was numb throughout my whole body but I was still able to feel a contraction every few minutes. The operation went smoothly and cooper made his entrance!
