Infant carrier question-

We paid a lot of money for our carrier because we wanted one safe and durable. Now, my mom baby sits a family friends child, who is going to be 1 in May. She's little though, and only weighs 15 pounds. My mom and sister both made the comment, on seperate occassions, that if they keep my son, they will be using the 1 year Olds carseat for him. I freaked. Clearly if you have my son, you will have my carrier for HIM. I even offered to buy both of them a base. The mom of the little girl even went as far as to leave her daughters extra carrier at my mom's house for my son - but I don't understand why they can't just accept that if they have my son, they'll have his carrier. It's kind of pissing me off. I don't necessarily want my son to be using a used carrier, even though it may still be in date, also, I'm worried if they are constantly switching the one year old with my son, that straps may not be adjusted as needed or if one gets sick the other will. Am I just being ridiculous or would you make your family use your carrier? My husband and I have no problem dropping more money just so they can each have their own base to put in their cars, because I understand that can be annoying.
