Kalamazoo Michigan?

Question

Does anyone on glow live in Kalamazoo, Michigan?? We live in Port Huron, MI and my husband might end up being transferred. His brother lives there so I wouldn't be totally alone, but I'm terrified to leave my family lol. 
If you live there, what is on your pros and cons list? Is it a good place to raise a family?

I lived in Kalamazoo for a few years when I was in college. It's a great town, lots of stuff to do, lots of great history, but like any bigger city there are not so great areas. I never felt unsafe in kzoo. I can't speak about schools, though I know they have lots of options in schooling. 
I wish we could live on the West side, since I miss being less than a half hour from South Haven and Lake Michigan.

I don't know Kalamazoo, but it can't be much worse than port Huron. I was just down there a few weeks ago and it was a little shady lol. I live in Traverse City. Google Kalamazoo crime statistics and check the schools to see how they rate. Good luck!

I live in metro Detroit, never been to kzoo but the people I know who went to college there loved it. Close to the cute beach towns like st Joseph. Lake Michigan is far superior to Lake Huron
