Out of the whole month is the egg really only available for 24hrs? So after ovulation your chances on pregnancy decrease?

yes. after ovulation is over you can't get pregnant. there are very rare cases which  a woman might ovulate twice in one cycle.

Yep pretty much... becoming pregnant isn't as easy as some think... you've only got a limited window by which to make it happen and even then only one thing has to slightly be off and then no pregnancy (even if you do it in the right window of time). That being said sperm can last like 5 days or so inside you so it's possible to get pregnant that way (though obviously the longer the sperm are alive the weaker they become till the die off)
