I think there's a line certain people shouldn't cross. Like, I find it incredibly disrespectful when people wear pentacles and other Wiccan symbols just to be "edgy" and cute. I think it's disrespectful to wear religious symbols or attire that's sacred when the person wearing it doesn't hold those beliefs or find any meaning in it. But as far as like hoop earrings and regular clothing and braids and stuff, everyone should be able to wear whatever they want.

No. If I like something, I'm going to wear it. If I like a certain hairstyle (and think I could pull it off), I'm going to rock it.

No! Do not appropriate someone's religion. Especially if other people are facing discrimination because of it. Let's not pretend wearing a hijab for a day automatically makes you a saint who understands our daily struggles. You do not.

I voted "who cares" but I don't think most people will dress outside of their culture/ religion/etc unless they really admire it and if so then that's their prerogative.

It shouldn't matter what color you are, people should wear and do what they want without being judged for it. It's stupid to me saying, "He/She can't wear this or do this because they aren't (White, Black, Hispanic, Ect)" Let people live their life and be happy

The issue is people who are mixed race or simply don't look like the race that they are. I don't look mixed or West Indian, but know the culture better than most since I lived there all my life until I moved 4 years ago. 
 
My family have been there for 20 generations. 
 
I'm really offended that EVERY TIME people ask where I'm from and I say "Caribbean" and they then go "Were you born there?" And I say "Yes." Then they ask where my parents are from, and I say "Caribbean - and my grandparents, and my great grandparents"
 
Then they just sit there like they don't believe me and say "You don't look like you're from there" - well, there are mixed race people there too. 
 
So I've had people try to tell me I'm appropating MY OWN CULTURE. I'm over it,  you can't police what people do unless you know for a fact where they're from and what race they are without just looking at them and assuming.

I don't see a problem as long as you're truly embracing that culture and the people of that culture. If you're calling a black woman ghetto for wearing something and you wear it yourself, that's wrong.

I'm really torn on this subject. I think a lot of people are really offensive with the way they wear and claim some cultural symbols, but I also think it's impossible to avoid treading on someone else's culture. Makeup has been used in many different cultures for thousands of years, so are we appropriating Egyptians for wearing eyeliner? What about food? Is it offensive to Japanese people for someone not Japanese to eat sushi? What about sports from one culture that've been adopted by another? Can any black person have dreadlocks, even if they aren't from the carribean? Is it offensive if an Asian person wears a "kiss me I'm Irish" button? People seem to freak out the most about dreadlocks and henna and bindis, but there are a million other things to think about when it comes to culture?
