Farm obsessed mom, city and computer obsessed dad. One parent's family time is making the kids pick up horse shit, the other's is relaxing at a water park or movie or playing games. 
The two are polar opposites and I'm so happy they got divorced. I have no clue how they managed for 16 or so years (my sisters and I were the last few years of their marriage). 
It meant they could actually now be friends instead of constantly fighting adults. Their parenting styles are just too opposed to one another for either to work in one area, and because they split my sister's and I got to see and experience so much more.

So maybe I'm not the best example since my parents split up when I was 21 years old and my brother 19 years old, but my parents definitely had some big issues and that's why they chose to split up (on paper they're still married). They were both quite calm and for the most it went spotless. Sometimes I had to kind of "mediate" between them and I also sorted out their finances, who would get what money and who would pay for what and so on. They both trust me completely so I knew that they would both be fine with what I wrote down. My parents are really good friends now, still hang out and they still take really good care of us (even though we don't live at home anymore).

Kids will notice when their parents aren't happy, so in that way they're better off when the parents split. Just make sure you handle it like adults and try to make this divorce as easy as possible for the both of you and your kid.

My parents divorced when I was 8 and split when I was 5. I knew why it was happening and it never affected me in a negative way. If anything, having my mother explain everything to me and telling me why they were doing it, just opened my eyes a little bit more to the world

I think i was pretty grateful for my parents' divorce. It helped them both get the help they needed. My dad was physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive to my mother. When she cheated on him and filed for divorce, he started going to therapy. Their marriage was more toxic than their divorce. If it weren't for other factors that came into play after the divorce that negatively affected me, I would say it didn't negatively impact me at all. I'm sure that's the case for some kids. Just like I'm sure the divorce was heartbreaking. I think these issues are so individual and unique to each family.

There's always going to be a negative impact in a divorce. Unless the parents are totally responsible and understanding, don't try to pin the kid against a parent then the kid should b fine.

My parents divorce was ugly. My mom pulled the bitter bitch card and kept us from my dad for 5 months. He couldn't come within 100yards of us😒 when she was the one that cheated on my dad smh

If it wasn't for her being a fucking floosy and bringing guys to the house while my dad was at work I think it could haven been a half way decent divorce
