miscarriage or clot?

I recently started birth control and by the doctors orders I started in the middle of the month throwing my period off a week.  I always have protected sex, but I started my period today and usually it's a light day but I just found this and I don't know if it's a miscarriage or just a clot.  I've had plenty of blood clots during periods but none like this.
