What does your baby sleep on?

Question

I have a 5 day old newborn baby girl who will only sleep in my arms. Does anyones newborn honestly love to sleep on a hard flat surface. i know this is whats recommended but she just will not do it. She will sleep in her boppy lounger, but thats it. Also, we bought a crescent womb baby hammock, anyone have any experience with this product or ones like it?

I'm so worried about best sleep practices but don't know what to do about her not sleeping.

Honestly that was me 2 weeks ago. I stressed myself to the point of tears because for her first 2 weeks of life she slept on me while I slept in the recliner. However, once she hit about 3 weeks we broke out the pack and play that has a newborn insert and started putting her in that. It was a challenge at first but she's sleeping her three hour stretches in there at night and waking for feedings. We don't swaddle her arms because she HATES it. My best advice is don't worry. You're gonna get there. I cried so many nights wondering what I was doing wrong but eventually she was able to sleep somewhere other than me. Give it a bit of time.

The boppy and the sleep hammock are not safe for sleeping. It can cause baby to suffocate due to improper positioning. It'll literally close off baby's breathing. Try getting a co sleeper for in your bed or beside your bed

It was so rough for the first month. I tried the bassinet, the pack and play and the newborn lounger that came with the pack and play. Nothing worked I finally ended up sleeping on the couch with her on my chest and the boppy pillow on my hips(I wanted to make sure I wouldn't move) even then we only slept a few hours at a time. She is now 4 months and sleeps through the night. I should probably start putting her in her crib but I just don't like the idea of her in another room yet, but I promise it does get easier.

I co-sleep now. It was never my plan. I tried so hard to get him to sleep in his bassinet. What worked at first was putting a thicker blanket over the bassinet pad (made sure it was tucked securely). It made it more comfy for him and he slept there for a few weeks, only in 3hr stretches max. Then he just switched and would wake up instantly if I put him in there and would scream if he was awake in there. Now that we co sleep he sleeps for long stretches and only wakes up to feed. Another thing that soothed my first born was putting a shirt I'd worn in his crib so he'd smell me.

My son was really difficult to get to sleep in his co-sleeper cot until we got a sleepyhead (called dockatot in the US), then he was ok going down and started sleeping much longer (up to 5 hours from 30-40 minutes).  We also got a heat pad to warm up the sleepyhead before putting him down if it was a cold night - if he was put down on a cold bed he'd bolt wide awake.

Rock n Play. It's not ideal, and I never expected to use one, but my baby refused to sleep flat. The RNP was safer than letting her sleep on me, where she might slip off while I'm asleep. She only needed the RNP until maybe 7 weeks. I tried her in the bassinet then and she slept perfectly fine, no real transition period at all.

Weirdly, even now at 11 months she rarely sleeps flat on her back! She's almost always on her side, and sometimes on her tummy. Some babies just aren't back sleepers. You just have to keep them as safe as possible until they're old enough to sleep any way they want.

Mine still sleeps in her boppy lounger in my bed with me and she's 3 months!(can't roll yet) my first daughter would only sleep in hers too! Swaddled and put right in the lounger. Once she can roll though..it's crib time.
