Bleeding during early pregnancy?

Anybody have any experiences with fairly heavy bleeding during pregnancy, yet everything be completely fine? A friend of mine is experiencing this currently, early into her pregnancy - the baby was fine and all was well when she made an appointment. I'm just wondering if anybody else here has experienced the same and would be willing to share their experiences or any advice to help ease her mind?
