bump too small at 39+2. should I worry?

I am measuring quite small at 39+2 days. Basically I've always measured small and every time they refer me for a scan the scan reveals that my baby growing perfectly fine and at a rate it should be. Yesterday I went for my midwife appointment and she said that she can't tell if my baby is head down or not so I would need a scan to confirm. I'm a bit worried. Does that mean there's something wrong with my baby? I'm due on Monday 17th April. What would my options be if my baby is not head down? My whole pregnancy has been smooth until now (6 days to go). I'm scared. Please advice☹️☹️😘

I don't know why they would make you worry about being on the smaller side this late on? At my last appointment midwife said I'm measuring 2 weeks behind because baby has dropped into my pelvis. That might be the same case for you.

It would depend on how small really my midwifes say 3 weeks smaller is fine, and i wouldn't worry about them not being able to tell babies possition, my midwife said ita very hard to tell for sure the difference between head and bum so at least if she isnt sure shes sending you to get checked, if baby is small it will be alot easier for baby to turn the right way or be turned by the dr if baby is in the wrong position, how small are you measuring?

Sounds like your question is much better suited for the person who is doing your scan or your dr. I wouldn't trust responses from a group of women with no medical background. I can facetiously tell you yes and then you'd be freaked out. Your question is very important and I hope you consult your dr.

Measuring the fundus is not nearly as accurate as they once thought. In fact, many doctors don't do it anymore because of that....if the growth scan read that baby is measuring perfect then what are you worried for? :)

I wouldn't worry too much. I've been consistently measuring small my whole pregnancy. The first time they mentioned it, I was 29 weeks measuring 24. Last time I asked them my measurement, I was 37 weeks measuring 31. I've had two growth scans, and my baby is measuring in the 26th percentile. Her estimated weight at 37.5 weeks was heavier than I was when I was born (at 39 weeks)! Those fundal height measurements aren't accurate at all.

As far as a possible breech baby, you can either have a scheduled c section or attempt an external cephalic version (ECV or version for short) if you're a good candidate for the procedure. They only have about a 60% success rate, but there's little risk to your baby. The biggest concern is that it may cause premature labor, so they give you a drug to prevent labor contractions and they won't do a version until you're near your due date. It can also cause fetal distres, in which case you may need an emergency c section, but with all the monitoring they do, it's unlikely I think. Most people who I've talked to or read about having a version said it only lasted like two minutes. I just had it done this morning, and my little girl was suuuuper stubborn. They tried for at least 15 minutes to turn her, and on their last attempt to go the other way, she finally popped around. I'm supposed to wear a belly band now to keep her strapped in until delivery. I won't lie, the version was painful, but I don't think there's anything comfortable about a c section or bagibal delivery, so it's good practice! For me it was totally worth it because I really want to have a vaginal delivery instead of a c section.
