Am I okay to date a gentleman 10 years older?

I'm 16 (17 in July) and he's just turned 27. We met on MyLOL and flirting although he lives in New Jersey and I live in Scotland, I miss him so much unfortunately he blocked me on Twitter since my carers found out about us and force me not to talk to him by put on block on some sites (fuck my life) as he thinks they are trying to put FBI on him. He's a kind, gentle and understanding man I ever met than my exes.
