do you believe you can support marijuana legalization AND support banning cigarettes in public places *outside from designated smoking areas*?

So I know those two don't seem like they'd correlate or conflict with each other in any way... but I was just told that I'm a hypocrite because I support legalizing marijuana, while also supporting banning smoking cigarettes in public outside from designated smoking areas. I don't see how the two have anything to do with each other... other than the fact that I wouldn't appreciate someone smoking marijuana in public either 🤷🏼‍♀️ my brother in law (who I routinely have issues with over his smoking) says I'm too "authoritarian" on cigarettes because I refuse to let him smoke in my vehicles, or in my presence in general. He doesn't have his own house and I don't ride in his car, so I'm not going into "his space" like people always assume. He says that cigarettes don't actually cause cancer or anything else, "it's a myth", and that secondhand smoke is harmless.
