Orgasms

Hello, ladies. I have a question. It may sound silly, but any advice would really be helpful. To my knowledge, I have never had an orgasm. But everytime I play, either by myself or with my boyfriend, I get to the same "point" (if you will), and stop shortly after. This "point" is when my muscles start tensing, my lady muscles are contracting, and short little "waves" go through my body. It always feels like I can go past that point, but I have not yet been able to. I also never feel satisfied once o get to this point. I have been wondering if this is orgasm, but everytime I ask somebody, the response I get is "you would know if you were orgasming". Please help and let me know what you think, or if you have any advice as to how to get past this point. Thank you!
