umbilical cord has yellow discharge?

Our newborn is 11 days old and his umbilical cord is all black which is normal for this stage.... it is also leaking a yellow discharge. Very very little. The cord has a smell but it doesn't smell infected, it just smells. Should we worry about the yellow discharge? He has NO redness or swelling around the cord.

Clean it with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and  then try to keep it dry. Watch for redness spreading from the belly button!

Completely normal, when it falls off it will have a small amount of yellow discharge aswell, try putting bubs belly in the sun a little to help with the process and smell

Our pediatrician told us that it was normal to have a smelly odor and to clean it with hydrogen peroxide on a qtip, if it seems to have a odor.
