Birth Control 🤔

Okay so my boyfriend and I have had a few pregnancy scares because my period fluctuates differently almost every month , so he wants me to get on birth control . The last time I was on it I had bad experiences , was sick all the time and we've tried condoms , and I can't get off when he's wearing one for some reason btw . So anyways I decided to get on the pill , went to my doctor and everything got the one where I only menstruate 1 time every 3 months . I've never been on it before , has anyone been on it and how effective  is it and do you have symptoms like weight gain or nausea ... stuff like that ? Sorry I'm paranoid lol 😂
