Considering where we are currently and where we seem to be headed, how likely is it that the human race will become extinct on earth?

What a beautiful question.
It's just so fascinating to talk about this with others whom have a horizon of knowledge, because all the possibilities and probabilities that come to question. Not conspiracies, but concrete facts.
I believe, that this planet won't be saved. Many factors such as over-population give us more of a reason to ditch this planet. Saddening, but we're between hope and fear. remember how huge the galaxy is. The Milky Way contains BILLIONS of solar systems. We are located in the outskirts of it, the desire to migrate to not just planets, but solar systems exists. That requires to perfect the travel of light years. Anyway, We're in the beginning stages of exploring Mars. We're not even entirely sure if Mars is suitable for humans yet. Yes, it is possible (w/ advanced tech) but until we're 99.9% certain it's very likely it'd be our new home planet. For giggles, let's say we do begin to populate Mars. I don't wish to get into a hypothesis, but it may be the case that those who have capital will be the first beings to officially live there unless astronauts are there to examine. Elon's SpaceX has already arranged someone whom offered a hefty deal. It's not immoral imo, the technology to migrate to another planet is valuable. He spit balled a figure, $10 billion per head, but assured it'd go down to the equivalent of buying a home, $200k. Although, that'd take many many years for that number to drop. Blue Origin is doing the same possibility, but they're very private on their vision. Can't tell you much on that.
As far as the human race, we will continue to thrive no matter the cost. We're currently evolving, however nature or God paints us, (I'm agnostic so can't help on the God thing) either way, we will cheat evolution, death and fate. I believe we will do that by merging with technology. Synths, cyborgs, AI, etc.

The world generally from what I read has actually gotten less violent and healthier. Not everywhere and for everyone, but generally. We are just better informed because of how fast news now travels. Perception is an interesting thing.

i don't think people will become totally extinct yet but i do think a huge portion of the population will be wiped out. i think it's gonna be like the beginning again.

7 million people becoming extinct? I doubt it. Sure, we treat our world like crap but at the same time, I think we are far from extinction. If anything were to happen, I feel as if we'd create more technology to aid.

I think that humans have the capability of saving the planet and therefore saving ourselves. It would take for humans on the planet to change in a lot of ways though. So if those changes do not take place, I think it is possible (not exactly sure how likely though) that we could become extinct. Or perhaps we will evolve into beings that can adapt to the future situations on earth. I think it's more likely for us to become extinct through some sort of catastrophic event that happens through nature though, such as a giant meteor hitting or being disintegrated by the sun. Nature is much more powerful than we are. But then again, are we not part of nature? So maybe it is likely that we could destroy ourselves.
