It already is considered neglect, in most cases if a child becomes overweight to the point that it effects their health and the parents don't intervene they can be charged with medical negligence of a child.

If you are the cause of your child becoming addicted to food it is on you. Children need to be taught how to eat properly as part of parenting.

We have a family friend like that. Her logic behind it is that she was a fat kid growing up and she turned out fine. Her 8 year old eats nothing but pizza rolls and Mountain Dew because that's the only food he likes. You'll never convince her that she's being negligent as a mom.

Totally. It's your responsibility to make sure your children are happy and healthy. By not adhering to that, it's considered negligence in my eyes.
