Both me and my husband ended up having to get surgery last year and we owe around 11,000 in bills. They are all with different companies? I guess like for example the doctor bill the hospital bill X-rays

Ask the hospital where you had it done if they have a program... Where im from our hospital looks at your income and will help you pay the bill

Debt consolidation might be the way to go. I had a few large hospital stays that added up to almost $80k. Of course, it was 100 different companies that all needed a minimum payment every month. I couldn't even kind of keep up. I ended up filing medical bankruptcy. 11k isn't so bad. Maybe see if you can consolidate and make one big payment a month?

I do medical billing. A lot of billing companies offer hardship discounts. Same as hospitals. Just remember if the hospital offers you a discount, that doesn't mean the company doing the billing for other departments, honors that charity.
