Depo Disaster

So I'm on my third dose of the depo shot. And on the third dose is when all of the sudden I gained 15 pounds. I'm telling you, I didn't start eating a lot I didn't change any previous habits which were eating twice a day and portioned meals. It was normal. I was also playing soccer and trying to shed off the weight and absolutely nothing I do is helping. I'm devastated, I told my doctor I'm switching to the patch cuz the weight gain is ridiculous and I'm not even over eating. Some have said the extra hormones cause ur metabolism to slow way down as a result storing fat instead of burning it. My husband has been supportive in all this thru my insecurity and depression but I still just feel so depressed. Has anyone had any bad experiences with depo as well? Is the patch a good option?
