Do you test before missed period?

I have been TTC for a year now and I never test early, I am so nervous for a BFN that I just wait, I just wondered how many people test early and why? Surely the fear of a false negative is enough to put you off? Not trying to be critical at all I wish I had that confidence to try!

I tested early only twice, and was pregnant both times.

The first time I tested before the first day of my period was bc my period was due on Christmas, and I was just trying to let myself get over the disappointment early rather than having to pretend around family that nothing was bothering me. I ultimately miscarried but it was still positive three days early.

The second time I tested four days early bc I had the exact same symptoms the first time around. I just had a gut feeling. And I was right!

But in general as a practice I think testing early is too stressful. And expensive lol.
