What does it mean if you get a pap smear and the test comes out abnormal cells ?

My gynecologist called me back with my test  results. She said I have abnormal cells and I'm going back for more testing May 1st . Can this be the cause why I haven't fallen pregnant? Is this caused by some typa std? I'm worried and I haven't got my period today .

Mine came back abnormal and I have HPV with precancerous cells so they did the cryosurgery and never had another issue. Paps come back normal 7 years and counting

I have had normally abnormal cells for YEARS. Mine is not HPV there is nothing to be done so we wait.   I get a pap after baby and then 6 months later then go back to yearly until they change more.   Depending on what exactly the abnormality is it could be the cause.   Write down your questions so you don't forget anything.   A lot of times it is nothing so don't stress it too much yet

Sometimes it's caused by hpv. I've had abnormal cells  for years . I had a biopsy done a few times . I had a colposcopy done and a leep .its actually pretty common to have abnormal cells . Idk if it could stall pregnancy or make it more difficult
