Finally another thing to look for is UTIs. This isn't really a vaginal infection more to do with the bladder. A uti also known as a urinary tract infection is an infection that begins in your urethra. Aka the tube that leads from inside your pee hole to your bladder. This can cause painful urination, frequent urination and a foul tuna smell or strong odor coming from your urine. (Again not the vagina).

All of these infection can be cured. BV and UTIs are usually cleared up with antibiotics and there are over the counter medications for yeast infections. I recommend monistat 3. You can find it at any pharmacy. Point is any fishy odor isn't normal. Any discharge that is green, or grayish in color could be a sign of trouble. Try to stay in tune with your body. Know what smells are normal to you and what aren't. As girls we should look for signs. Don't be ashamed or scared to give your underwear a smiff at the end of the day if you have to. Once your period starts again any odor that's NOT fishy is normal. So if your vagina and a strong fishy odor to it get yourself checked out by a real doctor.

These are some of the causes of fishy odors: Bactrrial Vagonosis (Also known as BV) you can contract BV from over washing your labia or getting soaps inside the vagina, because is messes up the natural balance of you vaginal floral. (A vagina has a specific acidic level. If for some reason it gets to low or too high on the spectrum this can cause infection. The vagina has good bacteria and bad bacteria. So think of it like this if you over wash and over wash you're getting rid of the bad bacteria but you're also getting rid of the good bacteria that cancels out the bad bacteria.

A similar infection is a yeast infection. This can be developed the same way BV is developed except a yeast infection has no strong smell other than baked bread and different symptoms. You will notice your vulva (labia Minora) is itchy and irritated. (Hurts when you sit, walk or wipe) burning upon urination etc the most obvious sign is white chunky discharge. A lot of people like to describe it as looking like cottage cheese but I' really had yeast infections before I can tell you from experience. It looks more like wet toilet paper bits.

A vagina isn't suppose to smell like roses I'll tell you that. Anytime I tried finding the answer to this question myself long ago I'd get the answer "vagina smells like vagina" or everyone smells different" I can give you the basic run down of what smells are normal and not.

Right after your period ends and you might still have a lingering odor of blood.

Once you start ovulating and your cervical mucous is clear and stretchy their should be little to know smell (could be sweet right after a shower or could be musky if you worked or went to school or went to the gym. Musky=similar to the smell of an armpit)

Once you start getting towards the end of ovulation and your period will soon begin again you may notice you discharge turns a lighter yellow color and could have a very light vinegary acidic scent to it.
