pregnancy scares/anxiety

Nina
so i've been on the pill for a while now to regulate my period, but recently I started taking it at the same time every day so my boyfriend and I could stop using condoms (we're exclusive and don't have any stis) and because i have a lot of anxiety it took me a while to make that decision. I talked to my gyno about it and she assured me that I have nothing to worry about, and then told me if i ever started the pill late or missed one i should just use a back up method for 7 days. I've done all of that and have taken it as instructed, but since it still hasn't been a full cycle since I started having unprotected sex, I'm freaking out a bit. I think it's just hard for me to trust a pill until I get my period and have proof that it works. I started the package one day late this month and followed all the instructions, but I'm still really scared, partly because i had sex on what was supposedly my most fertile day (9 days after i had been taking the pill correctly). Does anyone have any reassuring stories or strategies to help cope with this? I'm young and pregnancy is not an option for me right now.
