anyone on weekly progesterone/Makena shots to prevent preterm birth?

My doctors have suggested I would be a candidate for Makena/17p treatment since my son was born at 36 weeks (I am now 8 weeks with #2). They said it is weekly shots starting at 16 weeks. For those who have taken it, did you do the shots at home or at your Docs? What happens if you travel and can't do the weekly shot in the usual place? Did you tolerate them ok?

I started the makena at 18 weeks and I am now 25 weeks. They give it to me in the doctors office every week, but it usually only takes a few minutes because the nurse does it. It's not the most pleasent injection since the medication is so thick. However there is much more research done on it and it's been proven to be more effective than the progesterone. I have an allergic reaction every week the day after the shot which is very painful, but it is better than preterm labor again. Hope this helps!

My doc suggested the same thing for me! I was condemned plus my dd was born 36 weeks and 5 days so only technically two days early! They measured my cervix which is perfect at 4.5! Will measure again at 18 weeks! If is shortens by then we will reevaluate makena but for now I have decided against it! I think my "preterm" labor was bc my grandfather died the day before I went into labor! I just don't want to stress my body worse by introducing foreign hormones if it is not entirely nec.
