If you HAD to leave your child (0-3yrs old) unintended with one of these, which would it be?

LOL so me and my significant other had a whole one hour conversation about this last night 😪. He said if he had to he would be more comfortable with a dog because theyre friendlier & more social; I said if I had to I would be more comfortable with a cat because they physically can't do as much bodily harm in my opinion (I.e. They're not as strong, their bite force isn't as much, etc) and because cats are so nonchalant it will probably just leave the child alone & go on about its day. Thoughts?

** i'm not talking about in terms of YOUR cat and/or dog, i'm talking about leaving your child with a cat you do not know and/or a dog you do not know

Id probably trust a strangers cat quicker then a strangers dog. Cats are assholes. They aren't bothered with you unless you are of use to them. Plus a god could do a lot more damage in the case if an attack.

I guess both dogs and cats can be aggressive and potentially dangerously, fairly equally so I think, but there is the fact that most cats are smaller than dogs. There aren't quite as many big domestic breeds that I know of, so that probably takes some of the risk away with cats. Less likely to accidentally smother a baby possibly? 🤷‍♂️

Depends for me where I can see a cat would be harmless. But babies smell like milk and cats might accidentally suffocate the baby, in the same token cats don't really give a fuck about people unless they have food for them, so I think with the cat figures out this crying stinky little human thing isn't gonna benefit him he may just leave the baby alone.

Now with dogs they're playful and that may hurt the baby, but dogs I feel are a lot more aware of certain things and in the event of something happening like let's say smoke in the house I would trust a dog to get my baby out b4 a cat just because the dogs physically able

Dog for sure. My ex MIL had a stroke and she wasn't found for a few days, her cats started eating her and her leg had to be amputated because they ate her down to the bone. I don't want my kid being eaten alive by a cat.

Why would I ever have to do that? I would not. I just would not do that. But I guess dog idk. They're known to sometimes go and get people when there is an emergency. But wtf? Lol. Why would I leave my small child alone with an animal I don't know with no one else around? I may as well just call cps on myself.

It depends on how well trained the dog is. Some dogs will calmly watch over it, and others will be all up in it's face and knock it over.

It depends. Training of course but I've met aggressive cats that just bite and scratch just because. It really depends on the animals personality.

I know this is hypothetical but I just cannot imagine a situation where my only option is to leave my small child with a strange cat or dog, alone.

I wouldn't do either. Not knowing the animals means I don't know how they are with children. I don't even leave my baby alone with animals I do know.

Obviously neither for me 😂 but when it comes to my own pets I would trust leaving her with my cat. She absolutely LOVES him. Everytime he walks through the room she cracks up (she's 8.5 months) and she would spend her entire day trying to chase him where ever he went 😂 my dogs and dogs in general like to try to cuddle which could hurt her so I could never trust that.
