How many of you guys have had shingles?

Question

Comment what age you were, how you found out, how severe you had it, etc. I wanna know!

I'm 19 and I just got shingles this week and my mom keeps saying I'm too young to have them. But i definitely have them.

I had them at age 21
They lasted an entire month, if not more. 
People don't understand how painful they are. 
I worked the entire time I had them. Didn't take a day off.

10 years later, I can still feel them (the nerve damage, obviously) 
and when I get hot, they "light up" red... So I can see where they were.

Shingles is more common in the older adults population because their immune system weakens and then the inactive varicella virus is able to come back as shingles. It's rarer to see it in younger people.
