Knowing gender before gender reveal?

I find out May 2nd but my mother wants me to wait until Mother's Day which is a whole week after. It's only me and my SO, what should I do? Find out before hand and just still be surprised or wait the week?

My SO and I found out and kept it a secret until the gender reveal. We wanted to know. And it was fun having the secret between us for a couple weeks.

I think it's totally fine to do a gender reveal for your family and already know!! Depending on what you're doing, you could involve your parents and grandparents instead of it being you...

Of course do what you like ultimately, but I  personally don't like gender reveals if the couple already knows. It's like we're going to a party to be told something you already know, versus sharing in a special and touching moment with you when you find out. I go to gender reveals because I care more about the couples' reaction more than actually wanting to know the gender of your baby so badly. I wanted to know the gender right away too but I didn't have a reveal party.
