Need some Mother's opinions

Me and my husband are looking at one of our twins having open heart surgery after she's born. Possibly having to be at the hospital for a month, maybe two or longer. One hospital option is about 300 miles away and the other is closer to 2,000 miles dependinf on severity of condition and quality of doctors.

Bringing my other two children, who are boys, one is 7 and the other will be 4 in October just doesn't seem logical. Although it can be done, the amount of stress that would being seems unfathomable with twins and one in the NICU.

So my question is if you mamas were looking at the hospital that was 2,000 miles away and maybe months in the hospital, (your husband would stay behind with the baby in the NICU) how often would you visit your kids at home (if at all) and how long would you stay before going back to hospital? Or am I totally crazy for even thinking of leaving my baby to visit my other children after being at the hospital for a month and looking at having to be there longer, not that I would ever leave the baby while it was like in critical condition....im at such a loss.
