Cloth Diaper Help?

Question

So I'm 25+6, a FTM and I really want to cloth diaper. I'm going to take a whole year off of work so I have the time to do it. I just don't know what brand to go with? Help please! It's so overwhelming and none of my friends have done it and they think I'm crazy.

Should I invest in a start kit or just commit to one brand before hand? Ideally I want to start buying cloth diapers around 30 weeks.

Before committing to a stash of diapers we are renting our newborn cloth diapers from a local store. It works for us for a couple of reasons, most standard size cloth diapers may, or may not fit a newborn properly, and we don't want to invest in newborn sized diapers for the short time they will be used. Also, the rental comes with a variety of brands, and fits like pockets, all-in-ones, and prefolds. Lastly there is always that fear in the back of my mind at least - what if I hate the routine of washing, now I'll know it works for my family, and if it doesn't then I can return the rental.

I used fuzzibunz.  Loved them.  I got a lot of the packs on e bay as a lot of the ones I used were discontinued.   We used them until she began eating real food and I thought that is what was causing a horrible rash until I found that our washer was not completely getting the detergent out.   At that time we stopped using them.   I plan on using the cloth for a while with our next baby as I still have them.   Once I stop using them I plan on selling all mine as a kit.
