thoughts on Depo Shot?

Question

I want to start getting on birth control and I'm actually going in to planned parenthood and was just thinking about a good birth control. What are your thoughts on the depo shot? I heard you gain so much weight from it. Also, what are other good birth control contraceptives? Keeping my options open. 😊

Is there non-hormonal ones that I could possibly try out? I don't feel like getting some object put in my skin or my vagina though.. I'm asking a lot but I just want something that's good overall I guess? Let me knowww. 🙂🙂🙂🙂

DONT DO DEPO! Every woman I've known to have the depo shot had terrible experiences with it. Obviously not all women do but a loooooot of women have problems with the depo shot. My friends would bleed for months at a time and then stop for months at a time. Completely wiped their sex drive out and even made sex painful. Any one know who has done the depo has only had problems and my best friend even ended up in the hospital because of it. I've also heard women saying IUD insertion has broke in pieces inside them and it's not easy to get out after that and also parts or the whole thing gets imbedded into the lining of the uterus and has to get it removed surgically. 
Honestly, I've been on the pill for 10 years. It has never failed me and my bf comes in me when he finishes. It's also never caused me any problems with weight gain, acne, emotions etc. 
Just from what I've seen my friends and other women go through with different types of bc, I would never use anything other than the pill.

I love Depo. I gained five pounds, mainly water weight. No break outs. No mood swings. No periods. No pregnancy scares. Nothing crazy or negative. I'd recommend it to anyone. But, everyone is different! The pill didn't work well for me.

I've heard that they only want you on depo two years max because it weakens bone marrow and can lead to ostioperisis later in life. I steered away from it after I read that.
