How do you guys feel about smartphones?

For yourself. Bonus question: What is the best age (in your opinion) to get a smartphone?

They have their pros and cons. I think a good age is probably 15/16ish. It would obviously vary kid to kid but that would be average. I think once they learn appropriate vs inappropriate times to use a phone as well as responsiblity in staying within limits (for those who don't have unlimited data plans).

It seems reasonable to say 15/16, but at least where I live everyone has given their middle schooler a smart phone, so 11/12. We gave old iPhones to my step kids when they were 12 and 13. I had the phones, they were paid for and it was cheaper to activate them then buy new flip phones for them, I just shut off their data.

Smartphone when they are driving alone, so 16?  They can have a basic in case of emergency  phone prior to that
