Was I in the wrong?

Question

Me and my partner recently split. Was it wrong of me to say I wouldn't want him to be my birthing partner anymore? It's not like I'm saying I don't want him to be a dad I'd just rather have someone there who I know for sure wouldn't make me more stressed than I already would be...
Im so confused 😕

I think he should be allowed in the room if you are amicable and he hasn't done anything to deserve not to be. It's his child too. But I would have a friend, sister, Mom to be my coach and hand holder. He can just sit in the waiting room until you are ready to push.

I do not believe you are in the wrong, it is a very tough situation and for him it could be devastating knowing he no longer will be in the room when his child is born, but if it is uncomfortable for you, you are the one doing all the hard work, and going through everything, I would want as easy as possible and eliminating a stressor will do you some good as well! I'm sure he will see his child as soon as you give birth and doctors look the baby over to ensure both of you are healthy! Good luck!

You're not in the wrong at all. Me and my partner (now ex) have recently split, I'm 16 almost 17 weeks pregnant.. I would be more comfortable if it was just me and my mum in the room but I know he's gonna be there also as it's his first baby (my second) so I know how tough it is. Providing you're amicable and on good terms I'm sure he'll come round to the idea in the end, may take him a while though. Hope you're okay 💜

I dont think that's wrong. Id still have him in the room, it is his baby as well and unless hes being a douche he should have the option to see his baby bee born. But as an actual birthing partner, id look into a doula, close friend or family etc. Nothing wrong with saying i dont want your support.
