Progesterone shots?

My doctor advised me to take progesterone shots (makena) due to being at risk for another PTL. My son was born 5 weeks early. Is anyone else taking these shots? Have they been successful?

I've been on them since 16 weeks due to losing my first baby bc of cervical incompetency. I'm now 29 weeks and haven't had any issues with my cervix shortening (I also have a cerclage). I would definitely get them, there's no downside. If you do go with them, make sure you call Makena to get their copay assistance- my insurance told me it would be $730 per month but with the assistance I only pay $100 per month.

I was adivised to take them with my last two and with this pregnancy. Was told there wasn't a guarantee it would work and my girls were born at 36-37 weeks so we opted out each time and made it to our scheduled c-section.

Not on the shots for this pregnancy (insurance wouldn't cover it this time) but I was with my now 4 yr old. They worked great for me! I generally felt good physically throughout that pregnancy, despite how painful the shots were at times lol. Prior to that, I had a preemie born at 30 weeks and then lost my 20 weeker a few years later. I was diagnosed with cervical insufficiency but they wanted to cover all bases since I technically went into preterm labor with my 30 weeker. I made it to 38+4 weeks, I hadn't been that far along since my oldest and he's 17 now. I invested in bio identical progesterone cream for this pregnancy, my mfm gave his thumbs up for continued use until week 36. I'm hopeful that it will do well and get me to 38-39 weeks. I'm 25.4 right now, so far so good. 😊
