Does shapewear really work?

Question

MIL is getting married in a few weeks and I am looking for a dress that doesn't make me look like a hippo.
Because that dress doesn't seem to exist, I'm wondering if shapewear would be a good alternative. Have you tried it? Is it worth it?

I've already lost weight and I'm working to lose more, but may 12 is coming up fast lol

I love my shapewear!! Ross usually has some good brands at discount prices. Look in the bra/panty/pj section. I've purchased many from there and they all do their job

Oh yeah it helps. I wear it when I'm wearing anything form fitting just to get that smooth, no lumps or rolls look.

I have some really cheap ass shapewear from Walmart lol. It was only $10, but it definitely does help. It keeps the muffin top and fupa under control, ya know. So I would assume that more expensive/higher quality shapewear would work even better. It won't make any lasting changes like waist training does; but for a night out, shapewear is good.
