Soo embarrassed I want to wear makeup but don't know where to start!

I am 32 and only use mascara and eyeliner. I never felt the need to use it before. But as I'm getting older I'm starting to believe it's necessary...and I want a change for me and my hubby. I don't even know where to start..what to buy..how to pick colors.. where to shop for it...some of it seems expensive I don't want to waste money being I have 3 lil ones.
