Need marriage advice! 😢

Ok, so I'm in desperate need of someone to vent to and I have nowhere else to turn.. I don't like going to friends or family about any issues in my marriage because they always seem to judge instead of giving honest advice. My husband and I have been married for six months and we have a 10 month old daughter together. I have an 11 year old and a 7 year old from a previous relationship. My husband was an alcoholic for three years but got sober two years before I met him. I found out just a couple of weeks before our wedding that he has started drinking cough syrup (because it has alcohol in it). I guess he tells himself it's "not as bad" as alcohol although deep down he knows it's not safe either. He has issues sleeping and usually only does it before bed but when I caught him he swore he wouldn't do it anymore.. which now it's been about TEN times that he's lied to me about the same shit. He will lie straight to my face and then he's sorry and "never going to do it again". He's the first man that I've been with that my kids absolutely adore and it kills me that he's broken my trust because he's so close to my kids and he's the perfect man besides his addiction. This isn't the only lie he has told though. A month after we met, I caught him talking to his ex and the one that hurt the most? The night before our wedding, he spent the night at a cabin with his groomsmen..well, the groomsmen decided to leave and go to a bar (which my husband didn't want to go to because he's a recovering alcoholic), so he was left at the cabin with three women that I do not know (his groomsmen girlfriends)..now, that wouldn't have been such an issue if he would've told me. But he didn't. I found out six weeks later! I forgave him anyways. Just tell me what you would do in my situation. I feel like most people would try counseling before ending a marriage but I just don't see how I'll ever trust him again.. how will I ever know if he's telling the truth or lying? I just don't know. My heart is broken..😢
