introduced Pacifier good or bad?

Question

Hi all, my baby girl is 3 days old, latching well but still craves suckling or soothing at  times, the hospital nurse gave her a pacifier and she loves it. She only needs it at night but then the problem is she drops it and every two minutes i have to get up to reinsert. This doesn't seem sustainable, thoughts? Suggestions? In general she sleeps much harder during the day and doesn't need it, I think her nights/days are backwards.

My son has always taken a soothie (the kind they gave him in the hospital). To combat him dropping it all the time we got him a wubbanub.

My daughter started with the Soothie pacifier and she liked it but couldn't keep it in her mouth and so I switched her to MAM newborn and she's much better with that kind! Bonus they were really cheap on Amazon. I wasn't planning to give her a pacifier for 6 weeks but gave in on like day 4 and she's been fine! It gave my nips a break and she's starting to self sooth with it now that's she a month old. I suggest trying a different brand!

The soothies are nice but my baby always popped them out. We switched to mam brand and he kept them in. We love this brand and I'd recommend them.

I'll be using a pacifier/dummy with mine.

They are apparently good for reducing risk of SIDS, and I prefer them over thumbs, as once they're old enough, it's easier to wean them off a dummy than it is their thumbs or fingers. I used to have a dummy, and as soon as I was old enough to stop using it, I never even thought about sucking my thumb or fingers.

My nephew still sucks his fingers at 10 years old, and his fingers look a little on the unhealthy side. At university, I knew a girl who still sucked her fingers, and while the rest of her hands were nice, these two fingers looked like E.T's! It used to really freak me out!

Soothers can reduce the risk of sids so it's not a bad idea to introduce it. And often not always but often kids who have had soothers avoid sucking their thumb which can become a bad habit.

Same with the tommy tippe. The dropping is just something you have to deal with for a bit haha
